The Registrar of the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria, Mr Aliyu Angara, has called on the stakeholders in the health sector to accord the right recognition to Testing Laboratory Analysts in the country.
Angara said this during a briefing held to announce the Institute’s 28th Mandatory Continuous Professional Development workshop to be held in Lagos next Tuesday. He noted that testing laboratory analysts form a critical mass of the required experts that ascertain product quality, safety, and efficiency.
“The game-changer in modern-day international trade is product quality and safety and not necessarily the quantum of production. The challenges facing analysts need to be addressed. “The workshop is focused on further developing competence among the professional analysts practising their trade in the food, agro-allied, water, pharmaceutical and cosmetics laboratories,” Angara said.
He added that experts would identify the various challenges confronting professionals in the sector and proffer lasting solutions.
“The nation is yet to overcome the unfortunate incidents of oil pipeline vandalism which precipitates environmental degradation from oil spillage as well as fragrant gas flaring that has been on for decades. “The fact that the nation’s pharmaceutical sector is dominated by foreign nationals, the prevalence of substandard, unwholesome, and falsified medical products is worrisome to every concerned citizens,” Angara said.
