10 Additional COVID-19 Deaths, 247 New Cases Reported Across 14 States, FCT

14 states and the Federal Capital Territory reported 247 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, according to figures released on Friday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

10 additional COVID-19 related deaths were also reported by the agency. The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Friday.

Plateau recorded the highest number of new infections with 49 cases followed the FCT – 46, Kano – 29, Lagos – 27, Kaduna – 26, Gombe – 14, Bauchi – 11, Cross River – 11, Kwara – 11, Rivers – 9, Ondo – 8, Niger – 2, Oyo – 2, Edo – 1, and Ekiti – 1.

The health agency said the 247 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 209,960. However, 198,026 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.

With 10 COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,850, the NCDC said. It added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
