A 13 member steering committee for the establishment of a Teaching Hospital for the state owned Umaru Musa Yaradua University has been inaugurated.
The committee is chaired by the state Deputy Governor Mannir Yakubu. Inaugurating the committee yesterday, the state deputy governor said it is expected to define the scope of activities to be undertaken in order to convert existing General Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital to a fully accredited state teaching hospital.
Others are to harmonise, integrate ongoing activities, projects for the establishment of a faculty of medicine at UMYU with those of the teaching hospital project, to ensure optimal utilization of resources as well as elimination of duplication of efforts and minimize overlaps.
