NO fewer than 200 optometrists in Imo State have concluded plans to use this year’s World Sight Day to educate and offer free eye care to children.
Imo State Chairman of Nigeria Optometrists Association, Mr. Martin Ohiri, disclosed this to Vanguard in Owerri. In order to archive this, Ohiri said that Vision Corridor will be launched at the children’s park as part of the efforts in addressing the issue of children’s blindness in the state.
When Vanguard asked him the statistics of visually-challenged children in Imo State, he said it was not available to them and that the outcome of this year World Sight Day can be used to ascertain the figure.
Ohiri said: “This year, the national focus is on school children’s vision with respect to the various programmes initiated and championed to create awareness, enlighten and educate people about their well being.”
