5 Get Free Tuberculosis Treatment In C/River

Five persons are currently undergoing tuberculosis treatment after screening by a non-governmental organization (NGO), Positive Care Development Foundation, in Calabar. The beneficiaries are part of the 43 persons screened by experts from the NGO. 
 
An official of the NGO, Offon Uwem  said the NGO is serious about fighting the ailment  to a standstill. Uwem stated that two presumptive children were referred to Asi Ukpo Diagnostic Centre for scanning, while six HIV reactive cases were identified and escorted to health facility for clinical care and treatment. 
 
Uwem maintained that about six advocacy meetings were conducted with community stakeholders and facility site coordinators in target communities before the medical outreaches were carried out. 
 
He said the activities carried out during the community outreaches involved house to house awareness creation and sputum collection, weekly review meetings, Support Group meetings, Client tracking, Data Verification and home visits, advocacy visits, HIV testing and counseling as well as malaria testing and treatment.
