Job Description
- We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Clinical Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team at Synapse Services.
- The ideal candidate will provide evidence-based psychological assessment and therapy to clients experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.
- This role requires a strong commitment to client care, teamwork, and professional integrity within a therapeutic environment that promotes recovery and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate clients’ mental health and substance use history.
- Develop diagnostic formulations and recommendations in alignment with best clinical practices.
- Deliver evidence-based individual, family, and group psychotherapy sessions.
- Apply therapeutic modalities suited to client needs, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Interventions.
- Support clients in developing coping strategies, relapse prevention skills, and improved emotional regulation.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers.
- Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care.
- Monitor client progress and adjust interventions as necessary.
- Design and facilitate group sessions focusing on recovery themes such as self-awareness, emotional resilience, relapse prevention, and interpersonal skills.
- Encourage participation, empathy, and mutual support among clients.
- Incorporate the Twelve-Step Recovery principles and other evidence-based frameworks where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, medical staff, counselors, and other professionals to ensure holistic client care.
- Provide psychological input in team meetings and treatment planning discussions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including assessments, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Utilize the electronic medical records (EMR) system for timely documentation.
- Prepare reports and case summaries as required for internal review and compliance.
- Stay updated on current research, therapeutic approaches, and developments in mental health care.
- Participate in training, supervision, and continuous professional development activities.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
- 2–4 years clinical experience, preferably in a mental health or substance abuse treatment setting.
- Valid practice license (NACP registration desirable).
- Strong knowledge of psychological assessment tools and evidence-based interventions.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
