Maigodiya Center for Youth Development is a youth, women and children focused Non-Governmental Organization registered in Nigeria. We recently got funding from the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Palladium Group to support the implementation of Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE) project in Adamawa and Taraba States.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Consultant, Political Economy Analysis

Location: Jalingo, Taraba

Employment Type: Temporary

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate political economy analyst or a consultancy firm to conduct research to identify and analyze government policies, political, economic, social, and other related factors that influence health budget allocation and performance and assess the power and position of key political actors in Adamawa and Taraba States as it relates to health budget.

Responsibilities

  • The consultant will use political economy analysis approaches, including literature reviews and contextual analysis, key informant interviews, stakeholder mapping, influence and interest matrix and examinations of how power operates including influence, values, motivations, and allegiances as they relate to health budget allocation and performance in Adamawa and Taraba States.
  • Identify factors that are responsible for inadequate health budget allocation (Below Abuja declaration) and poor annual performance.
  • Use statistical analysis to interpret research findings
  • Present research results by writing reports, and give presentations
  • Evaluate the effects of low health budget allocation and performance on the health outcome of citizens.
  • Be the lead facilitator in a round table discussion with the States legislator and other key policy maker

Requirements

  • A PhD in public health is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 4 years work experience.
  • Proven work experience as a political economy analyst
  • Solid experience with statistical analysis software and qualitative research tools
  • Proficiency in English
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Outstanding writing skills and ability to report on research findings clearly
  • Integrity and morality
