Job Title: Director, Health Centre
Location: Effurun, Delta
Job Summary
- The Director of the Health Centre is the Chief Medical Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration, coordination and management of the healthcare services to staff and students of the University.
- The successful candidate shall provide strategic leadership in delivering accessible, efficient and high-quality healthcare services to students, staff and other eligible members of the University community.
Responsibilities
- Providing professional and administrative leadership for the University's Health Centre Directorate.
- Coordinating and supervising the activities of medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and other healthcare personnel of the Directorate.
- Developing and implementing policies and programmes for effective and efficient healthcare delivery in the University.
- Ensuring the provision of quality preventive, diagnostic, curative and emergency medical services.
- Advising the Vice-Chancellor and University Management on medical, public health and occupational health matters.
- Preparing and implementing the Directorate's annual budget and ensuring the prudent management of medical facilities, equipment and resources.
- Coordinating healthcare provision, disease prevention, immunization, medical screening and other public health initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant professional standards, healthcare regulations and medical ethics.
- Establishing and maintaining effective referral arrangements with tertiary hospitals and other healthcare institutions.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.
- Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and a valid practicing license.
- Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, the West African Postgraduate Medical College or an equivalent recognized professional qualification.
- A minimum of twenty (20) years of relevant post-professional experience, including substantial clinical practice and teaching/administrative experience.
- Proven experience in managing healthcare facilities, personnel and resources, preferably in a university, teaching hospital or comparable institution.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and proficiency in contemporary healthcare management.
Tenure:
- The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years, subject to the provisions of the University's enabling laws and applicable Federal Government regulations.
Remuneration and other Conditions of Service
- The remuneration and other conditions of service shall be as applicable to the position of Director, Health Centre in federal universities in Nigeria, together with other benefits approved by the Governing Council.
