The Top Management Committee of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital with the approval of the Head of Service hereby invites applications from interested and suitably qualified and experienced medical practitioners to fill the position of the Chief Medical Director of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), a foremost tertiary health institution of the Lagos State Government.

1. JOB TITLE: CHIEF MEDICAL DIRECTOR

The Chief Medical Director is the Chief Executive and Accounting Officer of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. He is accountable to the Governing Board for the overall administration, clinical governance, academic activities, and financial management of all the Directorates, Departments and Units of the Hospital in accordance with Lagos State Public Service Rules and LASUTH Law.

2. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Interested applicants must have the following qualifications:

Candidate must be a Medical Professor with administrative experience.

Candidate must be fully registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria for at least 20 years and possess a current practicing license.

Candidate must be a Fellow of either the National Postgraduate Medical College or the West African College of Surgeons/Physicians or any other equivalent recognized by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

Candidate must have been a Medical Consultant for at least 10 years.

Candidate must have a proven record of integrity, leadership, and possess evidence of management training as well as clinical and medical research experience.

Candidate must be medically fit (attach recent certificate of medical fitness).

Candidate must possess basic ICT competence.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chief Medical Director as the Head/Chief Executive of the Institution:

i) Is accountable to the Management Board and in its absence the Top Management Committee.

ii) Relates with the Honourable Commissioner for Health.

iii) Is charged with the responsibility of the execution of policies and matters affecting the day to day management of the hospital.

4. TENURE

The appointment is for a term of 4 years in the first instance, renewable for another term of four years at Mr. Governor's discretion.

5. SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Salary and allowances will be in accordance with the Public Service salary structure for this category of officer.

6. METHOD OF APPLICATION

The CV must also have names and addresses of 3 referees with at least one from outside LASUTH and one who must be a senior medical or dental practitioner of not less than twenty (20) years post qualification experience and stands in a position to attest to the candidate's academic, professional and managerial abilities as well as moral character and uprightness. Recommendation letters from the referees should be submitted to the above address.

Birth certificate or valid affidavit for age declaration.

3. Secondary School leaving certificate (SSCE)
4. Professional certificates (MBBS, FWACS, FWACP etc.)
5. NYSC discharge certificate or exemption certificate
6. Current MDCN annual practicing license
7. Certificates of full registration and additional qualification(s) with MDCN.
8. Medical Certificate of fitnes
