Job Title: Head of Fertility Nurse
Reports To: Practice Director
Location: Abuja, Nigeria.
Job Summary: The Ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in patient counselling, administering fertility drugs, and treatment protocols, managing donor and surrogacy programs. In addition, the role will include performing family planning procedures and providing antenatal, postnatal, and general midwifery care. This is a leadership role requiring close collaboration with the medical team, embryology team, and administrative staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the nursing team to deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence based fertility and reproductive care.
- Provide counselling and emotional support to patients undergoing fertility treatment, donor cycles, and surrogacy programs.
- Administer fertility medications, monitor treatment protocols, and educate patients on correct usage, expectations and side effects.
- Oversee and coordinate donor and surrogacy programs, ensuring compliance with clinic policies and ethical standards.
- Perform family planning procedures and provide contraceptive counselling.
- Deliver antenatal and postnatal care as part of comprehensive midwifery services.
- Support and assist in clinical procedures such as oocyte retrievals, embryo transfers, sono-HSG, Hysteroscopy and intrauterine insemination (IUI).
- Provide chaperoning during monitoring scans
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards.
- Actively participate in patient education initiatives and clinic marketing/outreach activities.
- Foster collaboration across the medical officer, OBGYN, embryology, and administrative teams to enhance patient outcomes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered Midwife with valid practicing license.
- Minimum of 4–5 years’ experience in fertility nursing and patient care.
- Strong knowledge of fertility drugs, stimulation protocols, and monitoring.
- Experience with follicle and uterine monitoring using ultrasonography is highly desirable.
- Proven experience managing donor and surrogacy programs.
- Excellent counselling and interpersonal skills with a patient-centred approach.
- Competence in performing family planning, antenatal, and postnatal nursing procedures.
- Leadership and team management experience desirable.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
