The Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH)  - The hospital was established in 1982 as a cottage hospital located at Okolobiri, a community in Gbarain-Ekpetiama in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and then  upgraded to the status of a teaching Hospital in September 2007, as part of the states’ developmental agenda. The upgrading was implemented by the military administrator, Group Captain Phillip Ayeni in 1996. With the establishment of the Niger Delta University and the College of Health Sciences in Bayelsa State, there was the urgent need to train medical students, house officers, nurses and students from other paramedical disciplines.

The Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) is the only tertiary teaching hospital in Bayelsa state, the core of the Niger Delta Region in Nigeria. We offer tertiary health services, train healthcare manpower and conduct health research for the good of humanity. Our Vision is to provide Excellent Healthcare in line with International Best Practices in an environment that is suitable for training of highly skilled Healthcare Professionals as well as conducting productive health research for the good of humanity in collaboration with other bodies - institutions.
