The Katsina State Hospitals Services Management Board was first established by Kaduna State Government via edict No. 7 of 1978. The same edict was modified and adapted under CAP 63 of the laws of Katsina State of Nigeria. In 1993, the Board was merged with the State Ministry of Health through an Executive order. However, it was reactivated on 30th March, 1998 operate autonomously, with a Governing Board under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. The Board has under control all staff at the Headquarters, State Medical store, Government House Clinic, Psychiatric Hospital as well as all those working at the 18 General Hospital in the Katsina, Daura, Funtua, Malumdfashi, Mani, Kankia, Dutsinma, Batsari, Baure, Babbaruga, Rimi, Ingawa, Musawa, Kankara and Danmusa.

Job Description
- The Medical Record Technician (GL 07) is responsible for the accurate collection, processing, storage, and retrieval of patient health information within KTHSMB healthcare facilities.
- The role involves maintaining both paper-based and electronic medical records, ensuring data confidentiality, and supporting health information systems.
- The technician will work closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure proper documentation, coding, and accessibility of patient records in line with healthcare standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update patient medical records accurately
- Register patients and manage record filing systems
- Retrieve and archive medical records as required
- Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information
- Assist in coding and classification of diseases and treatments
- Support electronic health records (EHR) systems management
- Verify completeness and accuracy of clinical documentation
- Prepare reports and statistics from health records data
- Manage record storage, tracking, and retrieval systems
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation practices
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Health Information Management or related field
- Basic knowledge of medical records systems
- Good organizational and data management skills
- Proficiency in computer use and Microsoft Office
- Relevant experience.
