Job Title: Medical Doctor (Obstetrics & Gynaecology)

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Employment Type: Full-time

Reports to: Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist or Head of Medical Department

 

Position Summary

  • We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Medical Doctor with a strong interest and bias for Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join our healthcare team.
  • The role involves providing comprehensive medical care to female patients, managing pregnancies, diagnosing and treating reproductive health conditions, and supporting surgical and non-surgical interventions in O&G.
  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate clinical excellence, empathy, and commitment to women’s health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient and inpatient medical care with emphasis on obstetrics and gynaecology.
  • Conduct antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, including safe delivery practices.
  • Diagnose and manage common gynaecological conditions (e.g., menstrual disorders, infertility, infections, fibroids, cancers).
  • Perform or assist in minor and major surgical procedures related to O&G.
  • Offer counselling on family planning, reproductive health, and preventive care.
  • Participate in screening and preventive programs such as cervical cancer screening and breast examinations.
  • Collaborate with consultants, midwives, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with medical standards.
  • Respond to obstetric and gynaecological emergencies with appropriate interventions.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, research, and training activities related to O&G.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB) or equivalent medical degree.
  • Full registration and valid practicing license with relevant medical council.
  • Proven clinical exposure or experience in obstetrics and gynaecology.
  • Strong knowledge of maternal and reproductive health practices.
  • Excellent diagnostic, surgical, and patient management skills.
  • Effective communication, empathy, and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to ethical medical practice and continuous learning.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in handling high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies.
  • Competence in ultrasound and other diagnostic tools relevant to O&G.
  • Research interest or publications in women’s health.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills for junior medical staff and students.

Work Environment:

  • Hospital/clinic setting with rotational duties, including night shifts and weekends.
  • Emergency calls and surgical responsibilities as required.

Salary

  • N350,000 - N400,000 Monthly.
