We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Medical Doctor

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Main Purpose

Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical practices, MSF protocols and guidelines, values and universal hygiene standards.

Job Description

  • Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF Guidelines and protocols.
  • Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the nature of the illness, its evolution and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
  • Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized patients through daily visits/rounds, examinations, telemedicine consultations and prescribing the necessary treatment plans in line with the updated MSF Guidelines and protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments.
  • Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care of the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material.
  • Respect all the constituted IPC protocols, Universal Based Precautions and Transmission Based Precautions within the hospital
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patient’s treatment, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
  • Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
  • Ensures professionalism and that confidentiality of patients’ information is respected, use of Patient Centered Care approach at all stage of Healthcare delivery to our beneficiaries.
  • Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary.
  • Active participation in the weekly presentations of medical topics for continous medical education
  • Active participation in the mortality reveiws
  • Ensuring knowledge of updated MSF Guidelines and Protocols and Policies
  • Active participation in other project activities and meetings.
  • Follows the referral procedure, adhering to MSF referral guidelines seeking the validation of all referrals by the medical activity manager
  • Participate in the morning medical meeting and ensure handover is done before leaving the service
  • Participate to the development of reforms in working strategies.
  • Reporting all forms of abuse within the facility to your line manager or other constituted authorities.
  • Perform daily ward rounds in pediatric wards
  • Support in the Emergency department during increase activity days, even when rostered to other wa

Requirements

Education:

Medical Doctor with MBBS or MBChB

Experience:

2-year experience minimum as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work (can be within medical training). Desirable in tropical medicine, or post-registration experience in Public Health, obs and gynae, pediatrics, A, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB, general practice, general medicine or minor surgery.

Languages:

English and Hausa

Contract:

208 working hours per month

Remuneration

Monthly Gross salary according to MSFF salary scale,plus 13th month allowance equivalent to 1 month of gross salary
