Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist (Intern)

Location: Benin City, Edo

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Scientist Intern to join our Laboratory Services team.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of experienced Medical Laboratory Scientists, gaining practical experience in laboratory operations while supporting the delivery of accurate, timely, and quality diagnostic services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in receiving, processing, and analyzing patient specimens under supervision.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Support the preparation of reagents, media, and laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of specimens.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control, laboratory safety, and waste management protocols.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuous learning activities.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Head of the Laboratory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.MLS/BMLS) in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
  • Evidence of completion of academic training.
  • Provisional registration/licence with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) is an added advantage.
  • No prior work experience is required.
  • Completion of clinical postings during undergraduate training is required.
  • Previous internship or volunteer experience in a healthcare setting is an added advantage.

  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, where required.
  • Must be proactive, dependable, and eager to learn.
  • Ability to work under supervision and follow established procedures.
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the job location.
