Roles and Responsibilities
- Sample accessioning
- Processing and staining of cytology samples (liquid-based and conventional)
- Processing of samples on automated chemistry and haematology analysers
- Perform rapid diagnostic tests on blood samples e.g. for HIV
- Ensure prompt test turnaround time based on processing SOPs from receipt of samples to the time the result is ready for validation by the Pathologist.
- Ensure quality control is performed based on equipment SOP
- Ensure equipment maintenance logs are up to date.
- Daily temperature charting (Fridge and room temperature).
- Preparation and standardisation of reagents & stains
- Adhere to all quality and safety guidelines as stated in the laboratory manual
Requirements
- Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Science (Minimum 2nd class honours upper division) with Core strengths in Histopathology
- Must have a valid license to practice
- An MSc in any of the laboratory sciences is an added advantage
- Computer literate
- Experience working with Laboratory management system software
- Ability to work independently
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Passionate to make a significant contribution to a rapidly growing organization
Experience
- 2 years of post-graduate experience
- Previous experience setting up a laboratory is an added advantage
