Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist
Location: Surulere, Lagos
Job Summary
The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting accurate and timely laboratory investigations to support the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients while maintaining high standards of laboratory practice and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in accordance with established procedures and clinical standards
- Collect, receive, label, process, and analyze patient specimens accurately
- Conduct hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and other relevant laboratory investigations
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
- Validate and report accurate and timely laboratory results
- Monitor and maintain quality control standards across laboratory procedures
- Identify and report abnormal or critical results promptly to the appropriate healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory records and documentation
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of specimens and laboratory materials
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention, biosafety, and laboratory safety protocols
- Assist with stock monitoring and ensure adequate availability of laboratory reagents and supplies
- Troubleshoot basic equipment and testing issues and escalate technical problems when necessary
- Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and relevant regulatory standards
Requirements
- Must be a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist (BMLS or equivalent)
- Valid practicing license/registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)
- 1–5 years relevant clinical laboratory experience (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, testing methods, and quality control practices
- Good understanding of laboratory safety and infection prevention standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Working Conditions
- Shift-based schedule (including nights, weekends, and public holidays)

Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 per month.
