Attention to all Medical and Dental Practitioners seeking housemanship opportunities.

Housemanship is the mandatory engagement in approved hospitals where first-year doctors are supervised by consultants, with an accountable transition to independent practice.

Registration on MDCN Housemanship Portal

Please be advised that upon the receipt of your provisional registration certificate after the pledge-taking, all newly inducted doctors and dentists must create a profile on the Housemanship portal www.housemanship.mdcn.gov.ng

This will grant you directly on the portal.

It is important to refrain from directly contacting or sending application letters to Federal institutions and to MDCN, either personally or through proxies (even parents), as this is considered a contravention under the Centralised Housemanship Placement System.

The provisional registration certificate issued is for the purpose of obtaining a certificate of experience (housemanship), and is valid for 24 months during which the doctor is expected to have commenced housemanship  

 

Important Note

• Portal updates are strictly for the 47 federal hospitals that are approved for centralised housemanship placement.
• Each hospital has an approved number of slots for doctors based on parameters required for training
• There is never a time when the portal is "closed" or "opened"
• If a hospital of your choice is now showing, it is because no vacancy exists in that hospital.

Process

1. The vacancies are updated on the portal every 4-6 weeks depending on the completion of houseofficers in those facilities.
2. MDCN noted that there is heavy traffic on days that are announced for update of vacancies. To this effects, MDCN has put in certain measures to reduce overcrowding -e.g. expansion of the server bandwidth, single user log-in and login OTP.
3. There are 81 non-federal hospitals where housemanship placements are available and are accredited by MDCN. Applicants to these non-federal hospitals are advised to directly approach these institutions for further information on available opportunities.

7. Within the 128 hospitals approved for housemanship across the country, the spaces can currently accommodate all inducted doctors and dentists per given year.
