The Centre for Social Cohesion, Peace and Empowerment (CENSCOPE) is a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting the ideals of self-sustainability, equality and social justice to the members of the society, it was founded in the year 2014 out of the need to give succor and support to the victim of arm conflict and natural disasters in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer

Location: Kaga LGA, Borno

 

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled MHPSS Officer to support the delivery of mental health and psychosocial support services to vulnerable individuals and communities affected by crisis.

The role focuses on strengthening resilience, improving emotional well-being, and ensuring safe referral for individuals with specialized mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group psychosocial support sessions
  • Deliver Psychological First Aid (PFA) where required
  • Facilitate structured support groups and community-based PSS activities
  • Identify individuals requiring specialized mental health care and support referrals
  • Conduct community awareness sessions on stress management, coping skills, and stigma reduction
  • Maintain confidential case files and documentation
  • Support training of community volunteers on basic psychosocial support
  • Collect data and contribute to activity and donor reports
  • Ensure safeguarding, confidentiality, and do-no-harm principles are upheld
  • Support the implementation and the promotion of gender, age and diversity principles at any time during activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. The key responsibilities listed in this document are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and not necessarily all inclusive.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Mental Health, or related field
  • Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA) or counselling skills is an advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in MHPSS, counselling, or psychosocial programming
  • Experience in humanitarian or conflict-affected settings is highly desirable.
  • Proven work experience in the implementation of disability inclusion programming.
