Job Title: Midwife 

Location: Lekki, Lagos

About the Role

  • We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Midwife with peri-operative experience to join our clinical team.
  • The ideal candidate will play a dual role—providing high-quality maternal care to pregnant women and new mothers, while also supporting surgical procedures within the operating theatre.
  • This position requires a confident professional who is compassionate, clinically sound, and comfortable working in fast-paced maternity and theatre environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

Midwifery Care:

  • Provide antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to mothers and newborns.
  • Monitor mothers and babies before, during, and after delivery.
  • Assist in labour management, safe deliveries, and emergency obstetric interventions.
  • Educate mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and reproductive health.
  • Document all maternal and neonatal care accurately and promptly.

 

Peri-Operative Duties:

  • Assist surgeons and theatre nurses during obstetric and general surgical procedures.
  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and theatres.
  • Set up and maintain sterile fields in accordance with infection control standards.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after surgeries, including recovery room support.
  • Ensure proper handling and documentation of surgical specimens.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols.
  • Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.
  • Participate in emergency response and support critical cases when required.
  • Ensure that all equipment and consumables for maternity and theatre use are available and well-maintained.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Registered Midwife (RM) with valid license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
  • Additional training or certification in peri-operative nursing is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 - 6 years of midwifery experience, with at least 2 years of peri-operative exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of obstetric emergencies, neonatal care, and surgical procedures.
  • Excellent understanding of infection control, patient safety, and sterile techniques.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused, and able to remain calm under pressure.
