- In line with our previous circular, N& MCN/SG/RO/CIR/24/VOL.4 of 31st October 2019, the Council would like to iterate its mandate for full regulation of the Dental Oral Health Nursing Program in Nigeria.
- This circular is to provide clarification regarding Dental Oral Health Nursing program and address the challenges faced by Dental Oral Health Nurses.
- The Dental Oral Health Nursing program is a regulated Post Basic Nursing program by the Council and operates in line with other Post Basic Nursing programs.
- Those who qualified as Dental Nursing practitioners from unaccredited programs can Registered and be licensed by the Council after undergoing refresher training at an accredited institution and successfully challenging the professional examination in that field.
- Basic admission into the Dental Oral Health Nursing program commenced in the 2020 academic year with suspension of basic admission in 2019.
- Nurses in Nigeria (Dental Oral Health Nurses inclusive) currently operate under a Unified Scheme of Service, so there is no separate Scheme of Service for Dental Oral Health Nurses.
- Institutions wishing to conduct refresher training for Dental Oral Health Nurses must apply officially to the Council for approval.
Please bring the content of this circular to the attention of all concerned individuals.
