THE PRESIDENTIAL COMMITTEE ON SALARIES (PCS) WITH RELEVANT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES AND THE HEALTH SECTOR PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS/ TRADE UNIONS ON THE ISSUE OF REVIEW OF HAZARD ALLOWANCE FOR HEALTH SECTOR WORKERS IN THE GOVERNMENT HEALTH ESTABLISHMENTS HELD AT THE STATE HOUSE BOUQUET HALL ABUJA.

Please recall that there is ongoing negotiation on the above subject matter between Government and Labour side. The progress of the on-going negotiation is being chaired by the Hon. Minister of Labour and Employment, Hon. Dr. Chris Ngige.

The negotiation started on Wednesday, 14th April 2021, with subsequent meetings as 11/05/2021, 01/06/2021, 15/06/2021 and 8/07/2021 respectively.

Outstanding Government offers / positions are as below:

a. 1st Office: CONHESS 1-5: N12,500.00 per Month

                       CONHESS 6-15; N25,000.00 per Month

b. 2nd Officer: CONHESS 1-5: N16,000.00 per Month

                         CONHESS 6-15: N32,000.00 per Month

Labour entirely rejected above offers and requested for higher value with emphasis on percentage of consolidated basic (CONHESS) salary structure at least 65% across board among Nurses and Midwives based on critical analysis of the strategic position of Nurses/ Midwives in all aspects of patient care situations.

Please note this, NANNM position is regardless to viewed categorization of clinical and non-clinical Staff as it is obvious that Nurses and Midwives are most exposed to risk/ hazards amongst other health workers (viewed from any perspective).

This summary update is provided to guide members who are anxious to share needed information on the on-going negotiation. The next meeting is expected within the first week of August, 2021.
