In furtherance of the mandate of the national health insurance scheme (NHIS) to ensure access to quality healthcare for all without financial impediments, the general public and all NHIS stakeholders are hereby notified that the honourable minister of health has approved a 30% increase in the fee-for-service rates, effective from October 1, 2021.
This is to cushion the effect of inflationary trend in the nation, which have led to high healthcare costs and also increased utilisation of services by the scheme's enrolees.
The new rates will be applicable to all referral /authorisation codes issued by health maintenance organisations from October 1, 2021.
The operational framework will be disseminated to all stakeholders accordingly.
