Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Renewal of Professional Licence by Nurses and Midwives During The Period of COVID-19 Lockdown

Posted on: Thu 14-05-2020

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has approved the acceptance of three (3) Credits of Continuing Professional Development Programme (MCPDP) for renewal of licence by Nurses an Midwives during this period of lockdown occasioned by COVID-19 Pandemic in the Country.

This provision covers any Council’s approved Continuing Professional Development Programme including the ongoing online continuing professional development programme organized by the World Continuing Education Alliance, provided it is up to three (3) credits or 30 contact hours earned.

The above concession is given due to the Federal Government directives on social gathering and social distancing which makes it impossible to hold MCPDP workshops across the country.

In view of the above, all Nurses/Midwives who wish to renew their practicing license can apply using online platform approved by the Council.

It is pertinent to note that this concession shall be reversed to the usual six (6) Credit Continuing Professional Development Programme obtained from MCPDP and other app roved CPDP, when the situation returns to normal, and this will also be duly communicated to all Nurses and Midwives.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in promoting and maintaining excellence in Nursing Education and Practice in line with global best practices.
