ASI UKPO DIAGNOSTICS & MEDICALS LIMITED, operator of ASI Ukpo Hospitals, is about to commence operation of the ASI Ukpo Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Calabar. This facility is poised to be the premier comprehensive cancer treatment centre in the South-South and South-East of Nigeria. We seek suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacancies:

JOB TITLE:                               ONCOLOGY PHARMACIST

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT:        Full-time

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum of B. Pharm from a reputable College of Pharmacy.
  • Current practicing license issued by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria.
  • Postgraduate Residency/training in Oncology Pharmacy, with specialised training on cancer treatments and management of associated toxicities and adverse effects, with a minimum of 5 years proven experience.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, organizational, time management, IT and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to meet requirements of the work place.

Ability to:

  • Organize the pharmacy in an efficient manner, and maintain full control over delivery, stocking and labeling of medicine and other products, to facilitate identification and monitoring of condition and expiry date.
  • Recommend, design, implement, monitor, and modify therapy plans to optimize outcomes in patients receiving cancer treatment.
  • Ensure safety in the compounding and dispensing of chemotherapy, maintain an adequate supply of medications, minimize drug waste, minimize unnecessary exposure to hazardous drugs, and manage cost and billing for cancer drugs
  • Provide direct patient care, patient education and participate in clinical decision making.
  • Work collaboratively with other health care professionals to develop institutional guidelines and make evidence-based decisions designed to improve patient care. 
  • Work to improve the safety, efficacy, and quality of cancer care, develop policies and implement programs to ensure the safety of staff and patients during the receipt, preparation, administration, and monitoring of anticancer agents.
  • Contribute to cancer research by leading/participating in clinical studies, reporting important observations from practice, and supporting investigational drug service programs
  • Develop Educational materials for patients and caregivers, detailing the medications used for cancer treatment, potential drug interactions, complications and adverse effects, proper handling & disposal as well as effective symptom management, in reader friendly formats.
  • Develop tools and programs to improve medication adherence, including dosing calendars and medication journals.
