The Sani Bello Foundation, in collaboration with the Graceland Health Development Foundation, Kaduna, has organised its yearly free medical and surgical outreach at the Kontagora General Hospital in Kontagora council area of Niger State.
The initiative, which drew beneficiaries from across the country, was to provide critical healthcare services to under-served populations.
Chairman of the foundation and former Military Governor of Kano State, Colonel Sani Bello (rtd.), described the outreach as a meaningful way to mark his 82nd birthday.
Bello highlighted his preference for supporting healthcare initiatives over extravagant celebrations.
The retired military officer expressed joy at the opportunity to bring smiles to individuals, who could not afford medical treatment, calling on affluent members of the society to support vulnerable populations.
Earlier, Vice Chairman of the Foundation, Usman Sani Bello, reiterated the body’s dedication to positively impacting lives.
He expressed delight over the smooth conduct of the programme, underscoring the importance of collective efforts in addressing healthcare challenges.
In his remarks, Chairman of Graceland Health Development Foundation, Dr Tort Joseph, lauded the collaboration, highlighting its transformative impact.
Similarly, Director-General of the foundation, Dr Zakari Ikani, provided updates on the programme’s progress.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the life-changing initiative. They commended the foundation’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility.
The five-day free healthcare service addressed a wide range of medical conditions, including fibroids, appendicitis, goitre, lumps, hernia, hydrocele, and eye-related diseases.
A team of medical specialists conducted the surgeries, underscoring the foundation’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery in Niger State and beyond.
