Eye Foundation Hospital Group (EFHG) is a healthcare group with specialty in Eye care services. The Eye Foundation Hospital was started in 1993 as a high tech specialist eye hospital capable of providing services comparable to those obtainable abroad. It is the first and foremost indigenous eye practice in the country that runs a group practice with many sub specialized ophthalmologists.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Ophthalmic Practitioner

Locations: Abuja (FCT) & Ota, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Ophthalmic Practitioner is responsible for patient’s registration, orderliness in the clinic and record management of both pre-op and post-op patient.

Responsibilities
Admission:

  • Take patient to appropriate designated area of required care
  • Ensure room is ready and AC is put on
  • Take patient for biometry if not done
  • Call lab scientist if not done
  • Ensure theatre gown is in all the room
  • Ensure patients wear the gown as soon as they get into the room
  • Raise bills for patients
  • Ensure patient gown is removed as soon as they enter into the room 2 hours after surgery
  • Check pre and post op vital signs
  • Transfer patient into the theatre with file
  • Ensure payment for surgery by checking for payment
  • Ensure patient is comfortable
  • Ensure juice and water is in patient fridge
  • Take patient back to the ward after surgery
  • Enter post op pink sheet on the indigo
  • Ensure ‘’DONE ‘’is clicked on the indigo couselling for all surgery patient
  • Write AEC for patient
  • Adequate handover.

Night Duty Admissions:

  • Take over from morning shift
  • Remove pad fom paient eye
  • Ensure post op VA is done
  • Ensure VA is written in the yellow form
  • Tag surgery files
  • Enter VA in excel sheet
  • Ensure slit lamp,prescription sheet,appointment sheet and other prints are available
  • Ensure biometry and lab for surgery patient for the next day are tagged if not yet done
  • Ensure post op yellow sheet and pink sheetis entered in the indigo
  • Preparation of theatre at 6am
  • Drape preparation.

Ward Assistant (Admissions):

  • Ensure in-patients have hospital complimentary drinks and snacks
  • Raise bills for all patients
  • Take patient for biometry
  • Enter patients details in the indigo
  • Ensure water, juice and toileteries are in patient room
  • Ensure councellation if necessary
  • Ensure approval when necessary
  • Enter surgeries in the excell sheet
  • Ensure all discharged patients are entered into the indigo and click done
  • Verify kitchen meal invoice
  • Scan and upload all operation notes any other documents for upload
  • Write sales report.

Clinic Morning Duty:

  • Ensure to attend the morning meetings and hurdles at 8am
  • Ensure the clinic is ready by 8.10 am .
  • Ensure facial tissue,purit are in the consulting room
  • Ensure prescription sheet,lenses ie 20D,78D,90D etc ,appointment sheet are in the consulting room
  • Ensure ROS pack is in the consulting room
  • Ensure indirect opthalmoscope is in consulting room
  • Ensure slit lamp is on and tested and ok
  • Ensure the computer is ready for indigo
  • Enter all seen patients on indigo
  • Call the right patient in to see the consultant or resident as the case may be
  • Enter details on the indigo
  • Take the file out to the outstationed nurse or ncop
  • Ensure patients are attended to accordingly
  • Ensure the slit lamps are covered at the end of the clinic
  • If on duty on Sunday, slit lamps should be thoroughly cleaned, savlon bottles washed and refilled per week quantity.

For Outpatient Department:

  • Collect file from inside stationed ncop
  • Ensure vital signs are done in VA Room
  • Ensure instructions are carried out e.g dilation,navigation to procedure or pharmacy or counselling dept etc.
