We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Optometrist

Location: Mowe / Shimawa - Ogun

 

Job Summary

The Optometrist will be responsible for examining patients’ eyes to diagnose vision problems, prescribing corrective lenses, detecting eye diseases, and providing appropriate treatment or referrals.

The role requires professionalism, accuracy, and excellent patient care skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision tests
  • Diagnose refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia
  • Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and visual aids
  • Detect and manage eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, conjunctivitis, and dry eye
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for eye surgery patients when required
  • Educate patients on eye health, hygiene, and preventive care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
  • Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists when necessary
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and calibration of optometry equipment
  • Comply with clinic policies, professional standards, and ethical guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, ophthalmologists, and other healthcare staff.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Doctor of Optometry (OD) from a recognized institution
  • Valid practicing license with the relevant professional council
  • 1–3 years clinical experience (fresh graduates may apply, if applicable)
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
  • Computer literacy and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is an advantage
