The Congenital Heart Disease Foundation of Nigeria (CHDF) is a non-profit organization that supports children and persons with Congenital Heart Disease popularly called Hole in the Heart in Nigeria. The foundation is envisioned to be the leading charity organization in Nigeria supporting the CHD cause. Our mission “to create a paradigm shift in the current status of congenital heart disease in Nigeria through awareness campaign and advocacy; support; education and research promotion” states the 4 main areas we are focusing on to achieve our vision.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Project Officer (Education and Research) or  (Surgical Care and Outreach)

Role Overview

• We are seeking a passionate and committed Medical Doctor, Medical Graduate (Interns, NYSC), Medical Student (400 level and above) to serve as a Volunteer Project Officer (Education & Research).
• This role is essential in supporting the planning, execution, and evaluation of our educational and research-focused initiatives.
• The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Manager and other team members to ensure our projects are impactful and evidence-based.

 

Key Responsibilities (Education and Research)

• Assist in the design and implementation of education and research projects.
• Coordinate with medical and administrative teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Conduct literature reviews and support data collection and analysis.
• Track project progress and prepare reports on outcomes and impact.
• Support the development of educational materials and outreach content.
• Maintain accurate documentation of project activities.
• Contribute to a collaborative and mission-driven team environment.

 

Key Responsibilities (Surgical Care and Outreach)

• Coordinating and sourcing for partnership/ sponsorship for patients' cardiac intervention treatments locally and internationally.
• Assist in planning and coordinating surgical missions and outreach programs.
• Liaise with hospitals, surgical teams, and partner organizations.
• Support patient identification, screening, and follow-up processes.
• Track project progress and prepare reports on outcomes and impact.
• Maintain accurate documentation of surgical and outreach activities.
• Participate in community engagement and awareness efforts.
• Contribute to a collaborative and mission-driven team environment.

 

Qualifications

• Medical Doctor, Medical Graduate (Interns, NYSC), Medical Student (400 level and above)
• Strong interest in medical education, research, and public health.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in project coordination or academic research is an advantage.
• Passion for improving the lives of individuals affected by congenital heart disease.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid setting.
