Job Title: Registered Nurse / Registered Midwife

Location: Mowe / Redemption City, Ogun

Overview

  • We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife with double qualification to join our team at Redeemers Health Village (RHV).
  • This role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive nursing and midwifery care across a variety of clinical settings, including maternity wards, labour and delivery units, and general medical-surgical units.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in both nursing and midwifery practices, with a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals across the lifespan.

Key Responsibilities

Nursing Care:

  • Provide skilled nursing care to patients across the lifespan, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, in accordance with evidence-based practice guidelines and standards of care.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs, identifying health problems, risks, and strengths to develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by healthcare providers, monitoring patients' responses and outcomes to ensure optimal therapeutic effects and minimize risks.

Midwifery Care:

  • Provide holistic and woman-centred midwifery care to pregnant women, labouring mothers, and postpartum patients, supporting physiological childbirth and promoting positive birth experiences.
  • Conduct antenatal assessments, including prenatal examinations, fetal monitoring, and health education, empowering women to make informed decisions about their pregnancies and childbirth.
  • Facilitate labour and delivery processes, including active labour management, pain relief measures, and supportive care, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and baby throughout the childbirth experience.

Patient Education and Counseling:

  • Educate patients and their families about health promotion, disease prevention, childbirth preparation, newborn care, and postpartum recovery, fostering informed decision-making and self-management skills.
  • Provide counselling and emotional support to patients and families during times of transition, crisis, or bereavement, demonstrating empathy, compassion, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.

Collaborative Practice:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare team members, including physicians, nurse practitioners, midwives, obstetricians, paediatricians, and allied health professionals, to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and care planning meetings, contributing insights and expertise from both nursing and midwifery perspectives to enhance patient care delivery.

Documentation and Quality Assurance:

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing and midwifery assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR) or paper charts, adhering to regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits to enhance the safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of nursing and midwifery care delivery, identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing evidence-based practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM) with valid licensure from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree, with additional certification or training in midwifery.
  • Minimum of 2 years of combined experience in nursing and midwifery, preferably in a hospital or maternity care setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required; Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) certification preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in both nursing and midwifery practices, including assessment, intervention, and education, across the continuum of care.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize care and respond effectively to changes in patients' conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members and communicate compassionately with patients and families.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and lifelong learning in both nursing and midwifery disciplines.
