Job Title: Registered Nurse

Location: Okota, Lagos

Description

The School Nurse will be responsible for providing comprehensive health care services to students, promoting a healthy and safe learning environment, and supporting the overall well-being of students.

This includes supervising student hygiene, providing minor counseling services, and collaborating with teachers and parents to ensure students' physical and emotional needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

Health Care Services:

  • Provide first aid and medical care for students who are injured or ill during school hours.
  • Conduct health assessments, screenings, and monitoring of students with chronic health conditions.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with school policies.
  • Maintain accurate health records for all students.

Student Hygiene Supervision:

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure students maintain good personal hygiene, including but not limited to nail cleanliness, hair care, and general body hygiene.
  • Identify any signs of neglect or issues that require parental or guardian intervention.
  • Develop and implement health education programs to promote good hygiene practices among students.

Minor Counseling Duties:

  • Provide basic counseling and support to students dealing with emotional, social, or health-related issues.
  • Refer students to appropriate professionals (e.g., school counselors, psychologists) when necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to identify and address student well-being concerns.

Health Education and Promotion:

  • Develop and implement health education programs for students, staff, and parents.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention strategies.
  • Stay updated on current health trends and best practices in school nursing.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure the health and well-being of students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and healthcare providers regarding student health issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to legal requirements regarding student health information.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license
  • Experience working with children and adolescents
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
