Job Title: Registered Perioperative Nurse

Location: Mowe / Redemption City, Ogun

Overview

  • We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Perioperative Nurse to join our team at Redeemers Health Village (RHV).
  • The Perioperative Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the perioperative period.
  • This role requires excellent clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

Preoperative Care:

  • Conduct preoperative assessments and screenings to identify patient needs and ensure readiness for surgery.
  • Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, anaesthesia, and postoperative care.
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans for patients.

Intraoperative Care:

  • Assist surgical teams during procedures by preparing and maintaining sterile surgical fields, passing instruments, and providing surgical supplies as needed.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and assist with anaesthesia administration and airway management.
  • Anticipate and respond to changes in patients' conditions, ensuring prompt intervention to maintain stability.

Postoperative Care:

  • Provide postoperative care and monitoring in recovery areas, assessing patients' condition and managing pain and discomfort.
  • Educate patients and their families about postoperative instructions, including wound care, medication management, and signs of complications.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure smooth transitions of care and continuity of patient management.

Documentation and Communication:

  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of perioperative care, including preoperative assessments, intraoperative interventions, and postoperative outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, providing updates on patients' progress and collaborating on care plans.

Quality Improvement:

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, optimize surgical outcomes, and improve perioperative processes.
  • Contribute to the review and evaluation of perioperative practices, identifying areas for improvement and implementing evidence-based interventions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with valid licensure from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent Degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in perioperative nursing, with experience in surgical settings preferred.
  • Certification in perioperative nursing (e.g., CNOR) is desirable.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in perioperative nursing practices, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative care.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to anticipate and respond to changes in patients' conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care, safety, and quality improvement.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet the dynamic needs of the perioperative environment.
