Blooms Academy is a co-educational private school running both Nigerian and British Curricula to provide quality education at affordable fees from Creche to Secondary level of education. It is located in a serene environment of Suncity Estate, Abuja, FCT.

 

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: School Nurse

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Employment Type: Full-time

 

Job Purpose

  • The School Nurse is responsible for promoting the health and wellbeing of students and staff within the school community.
  • The role involves providing first aid, managing health records, coordinating health education, ensuring compliance with health policies, and serving as a liaison between the school, families, and healthcare providers.

 

Key Responsibilities

Health Care & First Aid:

  • Provide immediate first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
  • Administer prescribed medications in line with school policy and medical directives.
  • Assess minor illnesses and injuries and determine appropriate care or referrals.

 

Health Records & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunizations and medical histories.
  • Ensure compliance with national health regulations, child protection, and safeguarding policies.
  • Monitor communicable diseases and implement preventive measures in line with public health guidance.

 

Health Education & Promotion:

  • Organize health awareness campaigns and workshops for students, staff, and parents.
  • Support the development of healthy lifestyle programs (nutrition, hygiene, mental health, etc.).
  • Educate students on personal health and wellbeing.

 

Liaison & Communication:

  • Act as a link between the school, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Advise staff on managing students with chronic illnesses, allergies, or disabilities.
  • Provide guidance to parents regarding students’ health concerns.

 

Administrative Duties:

  • Prepare health reports and updates for school leadership.
  • Develop, review, and implement school health policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and restock first aid kits and medical supplies.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Candidates should possess an OND or Bachelor' Degree with a minimum of 2 years nursing experience (experience in pediatrics, public health, or school nursing preferred).
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license or equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with children, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues with discretion.

Salary

  • N70,000 - N80,000 / Month.
