Job Description
- A surgical veterinary doctor performs complex surgical procedures on animals, requiring them to diagnose conditions needing surgery, develop surgical plans, administer anesthesia, perform operations, and oversee post-operative care.
- Key responsibilities include staying current with surgical advancements, collaborating with other professionals, maintaining detailed patient records, and educating owners on care.They also handle ethical considerations and may work on-call for emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosis: Accurately diagnose conditions in various animal species that require surgical intervention.
- Surgical Planning: Create detailed surgical plans tailored to each patient's specific needs and condition.
- Anesthesia Management: Administer and monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Performing Surgery: Execute a wide range of surgical procedures, including complex orthopedic, soft tissue, and emergency surgeries.
- Post-Operative Care: Oversee and provide comprehensive post-operative care to ensure the patient's optimal recovery.
- Consultation & Education: Consult with animal owners, explaining surgical options, potential outcomes, and providing advice on post-operative care and overall well-being.
- Collaboration: Work with other veterinary professionals, including technicians and other specialists, to develop comprehensive treatment plans for complicated cases.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all surgical procedures, patient progress, and outcomes.

- Anesthesia & Critical Care: Proficient in managing anesthesia and handling critical care situations.

Salary
- N120,000 - N150,000 Monthly.
