COURSE DESCRIPTION 

In the forensic community, forensic pathology is fashioned primarily to provide expert service to the justice system as it relates to investigation of death and criminal trial. However, the role is broader as it plays important role in medical research and is of immense benefit to clinicians, patients, and the public health system. Forensic haematology, forensic toxicology, forensic microbiology, forensic medicine, forensic surgery, forensic genetic medicine contribute immensely to unfold bioterrorism, assessment and interpretation of bone trauma in children, sexual assault, genital photography, forensic photography, common errors in injury interpretation, self-inflicted injuries and associated psychological profiles, bite marks etc. With alarming kidnapping and terrorism in Nigeria it is important for pathologist and other medical practitioner to have basic knowledge of forensic medicine and take the advantage of the update course.
