The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria has dismissed the allegation of professional misconduct levelled against the Chief Medical Director of Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Prof. Akeem Lasisi, over the autopsy carried out on the body of Senator Isiaka Adeleke following his death on April 23, 2017.
This was contained in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Mr. Ayodele Adeyemo.
Some of the supporters of the deceased had claimed that he was poisoned while attending a social function. Following this, the deceased’s family requested that autopsy be carried out on his remains to ascertain the cause of his death.
The family later sent a petition to the MDCAN, accusing the CMD of professional misconduct. But, quoting a letter written by the council to Lasisi to exonerate him, the PRO said the MDCAN had dismissed the allegation against the CMD.
The statement partly read, “In its letter Ref no: MD PIP/781/111, dated 11th May, 2018, signed by the Secretary of the Investigation Panel, Dr. E. D. Abdu, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria said following consideration of the petition deposed to on oath by the family of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke and the counter affividavit by the Chief Medical Director, including the autopsy report of the said Senator, the Council came to the conclusion that no case of misconduct in a professional respect has been established against Professor Akeem Lasisi.
“The panel MDCAN) has come to a conclusion on the matter. The panel did not establish prima facie case of misconduct in a professional respect against you.”
