Advisor II, Research and Evaluation

Ipas, a global, non-profit reproductive health organization, working in Nigeria seeks a Research and Evaluation (R&E) Advisor. The Advisor II supports implemention of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes of Ipas' programs in Nigeria. This position contributes to ensuring the appropriate measurement of results of different projects and for generating indicators that correspond to the different Ipas Nigeria interventions. Additionally, this position ensures data quality by overseeing the completion and verification of data and conducting appropriate statistical analysis. The R&E Advisor II also supports the preparation of accurate donor and government reports by ensuring data are collected, entered, and cleaned properly.
This is a fulltime time staff position based in Abuja, Nigeria and is available immediately
Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for program monitoring and evaluation, including the implementation of Ipas’s M&E systems (data collection, data management and documentation, updating Ipas database and results reporting)
• Perform data cleaning, analysis and management of quantitative data sets for research, monitoring and evaluation as needed
• Train staff and consultants in M&E data collection and processing
• Prepare tables, charts and figures for internal and external publications
• Draft, review and edit documents prepared for internal and external use
• Serve on technical support teams for country and regional programs
• Support the Senior R&E Advisor in all aspects of research projects, including protocol and data collection tool
development, data analysis and interpretation and dissemination
• Prepare literature searches and bibliographies
• Provide administrative support as needed
• Carry out other tasks to support Ipas’s R&E efforts
Requirements:
• Masters degree in social science or public health with 5-7 years work experience in research and evaluation of health programs in developing countries, especially in West Africa
• Experience with statistical analysis computer packages (e.g., STATA, SPSS, SAS, EpiInfo)
• Experience with word processing (Word) , spreadsheets (Excel) and presentation software (PowerPoint)
• Experience working with databases; experience with relational databases preferred but not required
• Experience with geographic mapping software and qualitative analysis software (NVivo, ATLAS.ti or others) a plus but not required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to communicate verbally in at least one Nigerian language
• Well-organized, with ability to track multiple projects and deadlines
• Experience in providing administrative support to work teams
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and regionally, up to 35% of working days per year
• A limited amount of international travel is required
• Ability to work successfully in a cross-cultural, team-based, global environment
• Ability to work legally in Nigeria
