AfDB to Adopt ABUAD Model for Staff Medicare

The African Development Bank said on Thursday that it was willing to adopt the multi system Afe Bablola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti as partner to offer medical services to its staff across the continent.
 
AfDB Regional Senior Medical Doctor, Nigeria Country Department, Dr Augustine Uhunwangho, who lauded investment in the hospital, said the bank was interested in places where its staff could get best form of medical care to be fit.
 
Uhunmwangho, who spoke at ABUAD during an assessment tour of the medical facility, said, “It is a policy of the bank to ensure that staff are physically fit, so, they do periodic medical evaluation. There are places that we really want to ensure they get adequate and the best form of medical care.”

ABUAD Founder, Chief Afe Babalola, who applauded AfDB for supporting the university in terms of recognition and financial supports, said “AFDB has invested so much in us, but we have invested much more on that hospital more than you expected.”
 
Babalola said the multi-system ABUAD Teaching Hospital had attracted commendations from far and near in view of the investment and facilities. He said, “It is a welcome idea that AfDB wishes to adopt this hospital as facility that will offer medicare to its staff.”
 
The ABUAD founder, who described the university as the best thing that had happened to Ekiti at present, said, “The coming of AfDB is a welcome development. The good news is that their staff from all over the country will be using the hospital. The Central Bank of Nigeria has agreed to do the same thing. Others are in the pipeline.”
