The Oyo State Government has concluded plans for the launch of a N50 billion endowment for healthcare delivery.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Azeez Adeduntanhad, who said this yesterday at a press conference to highlight how the fund would be expended, reiterated government’s commitment to further improve on health care delivery in the six geo-political areas of the state.

The commissioner said apart from using the money realised from the endowment fund to uplift the 57 general hospitals and over 600 primary health care centres in the state, a cardiovascular centre would be built at the state Hospital, Adeoyo, Ibadan. He said, “As part of his commitment to position health care delivery services as the best in the country, Governor Abiola Ajimobi has graciously approved the launching of a N50b endowment fund. The fund essentially will be used to improve and upgrade the facilities in all the government hospitals while our medical doctors and other health workers who left for greener pastures will be enticed to come back through good welfare package.”
The Consultant for the endowment fund, Dr. Bola Olaosebikan, said with effective utilisation of the money expected to come from the endowment fund, the state would become a medical hub.
