The Akwa Ibom State Government has commissioned Clinotech Group Canada as the new operator of Ibom Specialty Hospital. The President of the group, Dr. Harrison Ofiyai who disclosed this to newsmen in Uyo said Clinotech has also signed a Joint Venture Agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria with a view of constructing and managing hospitals of international standard as well as facilitate in and out bound medical tourism in the country.

 

While announcing the arrival of the first batch of the first line expatriate personnel in strategic specialty departments to upgrade facilities and local capacity, Ofiyai said the group will also provide kidney transplant, cancer research and treatment among other services.

 

” We are available for intervention Radiology, Endoscopic Surgeries and intervention Cardiology. Our Cath-Lab will support cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeries as we aim to perform Open-heart surgeries.

 

” Our renal and peritoneal dialysis centre is aimed at instigating Kidney transplant with full immunology laboratory for tissue typing. Obstetric and Gynecology as well as pediatric wings will be dedicated for women and children with emphasis of establishing in-vitro Fertilization as assisted reproduction as well as provide improved neonatal care.

 

” We aim to build a centre for cancer research and treatment as annex to the main hospital at ISH with full equipment and instrumentation including nuclear medicine for early detection and treatment of oncological disease.” He disclosed.

He noted that Ibom Specialty Hospital is equipped with modern facilities.

 

” ISH is fully equipped with state of the art imaging (Radiology)and laboratory instruments that are second to none compared with any quaternary hospital of its kind that is purpose built in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.

 

” It is convincing that ISH is very adequate for diagnostic and investigative medicine with the sophisticated equipment on Radiology, Blood and Urine Chemistry which equal International Standards.” He revealed.

 

The Clinotech boss maintained that the group has commenced full services in the hospital with expatriate team made up of surgeons with endoscopic procedures, intervention cardiologists, cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeons, NEUROSURGEONS, pediatric, assistive reproductive, organ transplant surgeons among other medical experts.

 

In his remark, the Akwa Ibom State Governor Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel congratulated the Clinotech Group for emerging victorious after several other companies bidded for the same job but urged the management to inculcate indegenes in its scheme of things

 

The governor who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant on Technical Matters and Due Process , Elder Ufot Ebong thanked the group for the additional department added to the hospital thereby describing the State as peaceful and calm.

 

The Dean College of Personal AIDES to the governor enlisted SYRINGE, Metering, floor mill, Coconut, AKEES as some of the industries the State Government has built within three years pointing out that the governor has brought peace and prosperity to the State.

 

He specifically commended Clinotech for the Kidney Transplant as well as centre for cancer research and treatment maintaining that the governor is very passionate about.
