Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano has said that his government will provide the initial sum of N200 million to kick-start the State Health Insurance Scheme Bill recently signed into law.
Obiano made the disclosure during the flag-off of a medical mission sponsored by an indigene of the community, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu in Amichi in Nnewi South Council Area of the state. He said he signed the Bill into law immediately it was passed by the State House of Assembly, adding that a special committee has been set up to advise government on how best to implement the scheme.
In his remarks, Chief Anyaegbu said the program was his own way of giving back to the society, saying he decided to involve the State Government due to the genuine commitment it has shown towards improving the health of the people.
