Arising from an EGM which held yesterday and following expiration of several ultimatum with little to nothing done by the LTH board and management, The Association of Resident Doctors at the Lautech Teaching Hospital Ogbomoso have withdrawn their services indefinitely
According to information sent to Medicalworld Nigeria, the Resident doctors listed the following demands:
1. Improvement of working conditions:
(a) ensuring that we no longer work in darkness from 10pm till morning,
(b) issuance of query indiscriminately just to ensure the system works
(c) proper welfare for our members especially in times of illness.
2. No to any form of bond and bondages:
when the management can't claim any financial wherewithal to support the sponsorship they claim as basis for this bond. As far as we know residency has an entry and exit stipulated.
3. Accreditation and sustenance of residency training: (a) proper funding of health and residency training in LTH Ogbomoso
(b) payment of update, revision courses, exam fees, dissertation grants.
(c) We say no to forcing us to generate 100million naira per month to pay our salaries as no centre in Nigeria can achieve this for now.
(d) WE SAY NO TO CANCELLATION OF RESIDENCY IN SOME DEPTS ( ENT, OPHTHALMOLOGY, LAB MEDICINE, ANAESTHESIA)
(e) accreditation of Radiology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Histopathology, Medical microbiology, Hematology departments
5. Reversal of half salary paid to us with payment of all arrears
Last salary collected was half of unskipped CONMESS for Sept 2016. WE ARE OWED NINE AND HALF MONTH SALARY
6 Replacement and employment of residents doctors
7. Employment and resumption of house officers
8. Completion of Resident Quarters
9. Issuance of payslip till date as last payslip
10 Issuance of black and white document of who owes us, how much we are owed, when we will be paid
According to the Doctors: Three of our resident doctors have collapsed in recent times, most recent of which was 24hrs and 48hrs ago while on the line of duty from no funds to feed as well as grossly inadequate manpower.
WE SEEM TO BE RUNNING THE HOSPITAL ON OUR BLOOD AND BEFORE WE RUN IT WITH OUR LIVES COUPLED WITH ATTENDANT LITIGATIONS FROM THE AFOREMENTIONED IMPEDANCES TO DELIVERY OF MAXIMAL HEALTH SERVICES, WE SHALL STAY AWAY UNTIL ALL OUR DEMANDS ARE MET.
* More celestial guidance
Yours in service
