The leadership of AMLSN paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN) and ASLM Board Chair- Prof Alash'le Abimiku. It was part of the scheduled activities for 2017 WBLSD celebration.
Beneficial outcomes of the visit to AMLSN include:
(1) Potential for Employment opportunities - AMLSN has re-established a reputable relationship with IHVN such that members especially, the young ones with interest in health Research and human resource development are better positioned.
(2) AMLSN members are now better exposed to opportunities for fellowship grants- members are urged to regularly check IHVN's website for possible announcements of calls.
(3) Pre-service internship opportunities for Med Lab Science graduates are now a possibility.
(4) Further Collaboration of IHVN with MLSCN in the area of capacity for production of EQA/PT(Proficiency Testing) and eventual accreditation of MLSCN EQA/PT lab for EQA/PT scheme using ISO 17043 is now a possibility.
(5) Chairing of the Opening Ceremony of 2017 AMLSN National Conference/Workshop(Kaduna 2017): The Executive Director of IHVN- Prof Alash'le Abimiku (Chair of ASLM Board and an expert in HIV & Human Genome/Biorepository Project) will by God's grace, Chair the opening ceremony of Kaduna 2017 AMLSN's National Conference/ Workshop.
(6) AMLSN now well positioned as a critical stakeholder in ensuring a successful 4th international conference of African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) taking place in Nigeria in December 2018.
(7) The visit has further positioned AMLSN/Med Lab Scientists at a higher level of integrity and professional respects.
