Azura Power West Africa  at the  weekend donated a block of six classrooms, learning materials, a library,  borehole and generator to Oba Erediauwa Primary School Idunmwowina in  Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of  Edo State.

 

The company also donated an  ambulance, ophthalmic microscope and cataract sets to  the state-owned Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin. The Managing Director of the company, Edu Okeke, said the donation was in fulfilment of the company’s pledge to improve the social life of its host communities.

 

He said, “The donation is just the beginning of what we will do for the communities. For us at Azura, we must confess that we have had  very  good experience with our communities — Ihovbor, Orior and Idunmwowina — good experience with our communities — Ehobor and Iduowina.

 

“Today we are presenting this block of classrooms,  we are also donating books to each pupil in the school and other writing materials. There is also a library which has been furnished for the students. “What makes a school is not only the building but the quality of teachers. For us at Azura, we are looking to the day some of these pupils will graduate and come to work in our power plant.”

 

The Chief Medical Director of Stella Obasanjo hospital, Dr  Patrick Okundia, who received the ambulance and equipment,  said they had no ambulance before  then. He said, “As you can see, the hospital did not have ambulance before now. To get donations as big as an ambulance and other hospital equipment is the biggest we have had in this hospital.”
