The Bauchi State government will establish local government health care authority in each of the 20 local government areas of the state.

A statement by the spokesperson of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (SPHDA),Suleiman Alhassan Dambam quoted the SPHDA Executive Secretary, Adamu Ibrahim Gamawa as saying at a sensitization meeting with the caretaker chairmen of the 20 LGAs that LG healthcare authorities would have full-fledged advisory committees and management teams.

He said the objective of the meeting, which was held in Jos, capital of Plateau State, was to share with state and LGA caretaker chairmen the national guidelines as Nigeria had instituted a national policy to bring primary healthcare under one roof to integrate management  and end fragmentation in the healthcare sector.

He explained that under the new arrangement, according to the national guideline, all LGAs would have health authority with advisory committee to oversee the implementation of primary health care.
