ICM is proud to announce that we are partnering with the Save the Children’s “Healthy Newborn Network” to promote midwifery as a solution to critical gaps in newborn health.
The Healthy Newborn Network is an advocacy organisation that publishes, on its BLOG, insights from maternal and newborn health professionals and practitioners. ICM and the Health Newborn Network are seeking articles of not more than 600 words or less from midwives in low- and middle-income countries that include the following elements (which can be ordered in different ways):
• An anecdote that encapsulates the problem or solution about your daily working experience. It can be a positive thing, it be a recurrent problem, it can be a solution to a problem, it can be anything that highlights your work as a midwife. • A description of the approach, solution and results
• A quotation from a colleague, healthcare worker, beneficiary, donor or policymaker
• A “call to action,” i.e., what you want people to do as a result of reading your blogpost
• A photo or graphic (we can help identify photos/improve graphics) don’t forget to write captions and credit the photographer
• A headline that induces people to click (HNN staff will write – but are always open to ideas)
• Avoid promoting an organization or a project
This is a platform to inform the audience about your midwifery profession in your country: the good and the bad things: what is working well and why, what is not right and which changes you would like to see happening in your country for the profession and for better health outcomes of mothers and babies. In this platform, you can highlight midwives work in different settings: such as a midwife clinician, midwife educators, midwife regulator, midwife leader.
This is an ongoing project and we will be publishing your stories regularly on the Health Newborn Network BLOG, submit your stories for publication!
