The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abdullahi Adamu Candido, has said that adequate attention must be given to health care delivery to people at the grassroots to reduce cases of deaths from minor ailments or poverty.
Candido who spoke while flagging off a two-day free medical outreach by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPco) at Gidan Mangoro on Wednesday, said no Nigerian deserved to die of any disease because he/she could not afford medical treatment. He called for collaborative effort from corporate organisations, agencies and philanthropists in ensuring that the number of deaths in rural communities from minor ailments was reduced.
Shell’s Regional Community Health Manager, Dr. Akinwunmi Fajola, said the outreach was part of the broader agenda to spread healthcare to all areas.
He said thousands of Nigerians have benefitted from the medical outreach and also appreciated AMAC for its support.
