JOB DESCRIPTION:

1. CONSULTANT NEPHROLOGIST(S)

(FULL TIME) JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The Consultant Nephrologist(s) with relevant working experience.

i. a Fellowship from the West African College, National College, Royal College or its equivalent

ii. must have a sound relevant knowledge in general of nephrology, and general internal medicine

iii. must be skilled in prescribing renal replacement therapy and attending to patients requiring same including creation of vascular access options.

iv. Skill/experience in transplant nephrology would be an added advantage

v. must have valuable sympathetic bedside manners, strong active listening skills and advanced problem-solving abilities while being able to work in a team. vi. must be computer proficient as the hospital runs a paperless system

JOB SUMMARY:

- Outpatient and Inpatient care of patients using the correct equipment in determining and evaluating the nature and extent of general medical and kidney disorders

- Provision of quality counsel and education to patients on how to minimize the impact of a disease condition on health in line with world best practices in nephrological care

- Undertaking relevant procedures in nephrology and internal medicine: kidney biopsy, tunneled and non-tunneled cannulation for dialysis access, AV fistula creation, etc

- Participation in Clinical/audit governance of assigned Medical Officers to nephrological unit

- Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes as well as Weekly Academic Learning activities limited to scope of practice
