Delta State Government has agreed to take over the operations of the two cottage hospitals at Tsekelewu and Oporoza communities built by Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, EGCDF, through the sponsorship of Chevron Nigeria Limited for the people of the riverine communities to have access to good health facilities.
It would be recalled that the communities, through their leader, Mr. Jude Ukori, had last week appealed to the state government to take over and provide personnel for the cottage hospitals at Oporoza and Tsekelewu communities in Warri South-West and Warri North Local Government Areas of the state.
In response to the plea, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa revealed yesterday that the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nicholas Azinge, has been directed to inspect the hospitals and make a programme for their possible takeover soon.
