As the resident doctors’ strike in the country bites harder yesterday, consultants, NYSC doctors and nurses in Abuja, the nation’s capital, have commenced skeletal services in the federal capital territory.
At National Hospital, Abuja and Kuje General Hospital, resident doctors have deserted the hospitals following directive from its national body compelling all members to stay away from work until government responds to their age-long demands. According to the Head of Department, Information and Protocol Management, National Hospital, Abuja, Dr. Tayo Haastrup, resident doctors in the institution had complied with the directive of its national body but that their action has not affected the hospital.
“Yes, the resident doctors at the National Hospital, Abuja, complied with the directive of the national body but other doctors like the consultants, NYSC doctors and others are still working.”
